One of my favorite crafty blogs is Lil Blue Boo. I kept seeing pictures of these pieced together knit dresses and thought they were adorable, and then I found out they're made from old tee-shirts. Old. Tee. Shirts. Who doesn't have tons of old tee shirts? And if not, aren't they like $1 at Goodwill? I bought the pattern from Ashley's Etsy shop and let it sit for a while so I could figure out exactly what I wanted to do. In the meantime I gathered all the old tee-shirts I could find and looked in clearance sections of the stores I frequent. Here is my first recycled (or upcycled, as Ashley calls it) T-Shirt Dress! I'm so excited about it. Here are some of the details:
The collar, top portion (with the record graphic) and the bottom are all from a tee-shirt I found on clearance for $3. I totally dig the record.
The flower print is from a knit halter style top I found on clearance for $1. I bought about 6 of those in one trip because I thought they'd add so much to these types of dresses!
And here is my Lilybug all smiles, so excited about her new dress! I can't wait to make more!
Ashley has so many cool techniques on her blog, including a tutorial for photo emulsion screen printing. I think I'll get some plain knit yardage and print some cool pictures for more dresses! Also, I can't wait to get my $35 steal of a serger out and try some reverse seams.
(Can you tell I'm a little excited? It's amazing how little it takes to make me giddy!)

Way to go sis!!!
Why does Lily look so old? I'm not ready.
Pretty stinkin' cute! For the record, I miss the old blog, even though I love this one too.

Thanks for stoping by at Bird Crafts!
So, I was blog-hopping and randomly came across this darling idea for a baby girl dress made from a pillowcase. Haven't done it yet but it looks so easy. Thought you might want to give it a try!http://freshlypicked.blogspot.com/2010/01/pillow-case-dress-tutorial-revisited.html
That is so adorable! If you ever find yourself making them smaller and willing to sell one, let me know! I'd love one for Vicky! :-)
